Description
The seat Belt Pretensioners (BPT) are installed at the lower part of the left and right center pillars and on the quarter pillars. When a front or side collision, or rollover accident occurs, the seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT) winds the seat belt and prevents the driver's and front passenger's body from being leaned forward and collided with the interior parts of the vehicle.
Troubleshooting
Removal
• When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.
Front Seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT)
1.Disconnect the battery negative ( - ) terminal and the service interlock connector.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 2WD")(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 4WD")
2.Remove the center pillar lower trim.(Refer to Body - "Center Pillar Trim")
3.Disconnect the seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT) connector (A).
4.Remove the seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT) (A) after removing the bolt.
Tightening torque :40.2 - 59.8 N·m (4.1 - 6.1 kgf·m, 29.7 - 44.1 lb·ft)
Rear Seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT)
1.Remove the rear pillar trim.(Refer to Body - "Rear Pillar Trim")
2.After disconnecting the connector (A) and removing the bolt, and then remove the rear seat Belt Pretensioner (BPT) (B).
