Kia EV6: General Service Information

General Service Information

1.Protect the vehicle's protective painted surfaces and internal parts with work covers (seat covers) or tape (if damaged by tools) to prevent damage.

Kia EV6. General Information

Before closing the hood, check the PE room for any tools or parts left.

2.At the same time as checking the defective part, determine the cause of the failure, determine whether it is necessary to remove or disassemble, and then work in the order of the workshop manual. In order to prevent mis-assembly and to facilitate assembly work, punch marks or coincidence marks are applied to areas that do not adversely affect the function or appearance. When disassembling parts with a large number of parts and similar parts, arrange them so as not to be confused during assembly.

1)Arrange the removed parts in order.

2)Distinguish between replacement parts and reusable parts.

3)When replacing bolts and nuts, be sure to use designated standard products.

Kia EV6. General Information

3.Special tools must be used for work instructing the use of special tools, as the parts may be damaged or damaged if the work is performed by using tools other than special tools.

Kia EV6. General Information

4.Reusable parts below must be replaced with new ones.

1)Oil seal

2)Gasket

3)Packing

4)O-ring

5)Washer

6)Split pin

5.Parts

1)When replacing a new part, be sure to use genuine Kia parts.

2)Use repair parts and the enclosed sets and kits.

3)Parts supplied as maintenance parts may differ from parts assembled in a vehicle for the unification of parts, so check the parts catalog carefully before performing maintenance work.

Kia EV6. General Information

6.Be sure to disconnect auxiliary 12 V battery ( - ) cable and the service interlock connector before replacing or repairing electrical system parts.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 2WD")(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 4WD")

Kia EV6. General Information

7.Be careful not to contact fuel and oil with rubber parts and hoses.

Inspection of Battery Terminals And Wiring

1.Check that the battery terminals are solid.

2.Check that the battery terminals and wiring are not corroded by battery electrolyte.

3.Check the battery terminals and wiring for open circuits or the potential to open the circuit.

4.Check the insulation and sheath of the wiring for damage, cracks, and deterioration of quality.

5.Check if the terminals of the battery terminals are in contact with other metal parts (car body or other parts).

6.Make sure that the ground bolt and the body are in full contact.

Kia EV6. General Information

7.Check the wiring connection.

8.Make sure that the wiring does not come into contact with sharp edges or hot parts (exhaust manifold, muffler, etc.) on the vehicle body.

9.Make sure that the wiring is secured with sufficient clearance from rotating parts such as cooling fans and drive belts.

10.Make sure that the wiring has an adequate vibration margin between vibration parts such as engines and fixed parts such as vehicle bodies.

Inspection of Fuse

The blade type fuse has an inspection contact that allows you to check the fuse without removing the fuse itself. When one contact of the inspection lamp and one side of the fuse are connected (one in a half) and one contact is grounded, the fuse is good. (Select the position of the ignition switch appropriately so that electricity flows through the fuse circuit.)

Inspection of Electrical System

Kia EV6. General Information

• When working on high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. It is because that lack of knowledge of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or electric leakage.(Refer to General Information - "High Voltage Shut-off Procedures")

• When working on high voltage system or related system, make sure that you are familiar and comply with the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings." If you do not comply with the instructions, serious accidents due to electric shock or leakage may occur.(Refer to General Information - "High Voltage System General Safety Information and Caution")

1.Fix the wiring with a clamp to prevent stretching.

Kia EV6. General Information

2.If the wiring contact with the edge or end of the part, wrap the interference part with tape to protect it from damage.

Kia EV6. General Information

3.When assembling vehicle parts, be careful not to damage the wiring.

Kia EV6. General Information

4.Be careful not to throw or cause shock to relays, sensors, electrical parts.

Kia EV6. General Information

5.VCU and relays are easy to get damaged by overheating. At temperatures above 176°F (80°C), disconnect electrical parts before inspection work.

Kia EV6. General Information

6.Loose connector connection may cause failure, so make sure that the connector is properly connected.

Kia EV6. General Information

7.When disconnecting the connector, hold the connector body.

Kia EV6. General Information

8.When disconnecting the lockable connector, release the lock as shown below.

Kia EV6. General Information

9.When installing the lockable connector, push it in until a "click" sound is heard.

Kia EV6. General Information

10.When checking the current or voltage of a connector terminal with a circuit tester, insert the probe from the harness side.If the connector is of a sealed type, be careful not to damage the insulation of the wiring, and insert the probe through the hole in the rubber sheath until the probe touches the terminal.

Kia EV6. General Information

11.Select appropriate wiring as shown in the table below to prevent overloading the wiring.
