Description
• The SIS consists of the P-SIS sensing the side collision pressure, A-SIS sensing the side collision acceleration.
• In the event of a side collision, SRS Control Module (SRSCM) determines whether and when to deploy side airbag (SAB) module and center side airbag (CSAB) module by using the side impact sensor signal.
Removal
• When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.
Pressure Type Side Impact Sensor (P-SIS)
1.Disconnect the battery negative ( - ) terminal and the service interlock connector.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 2WD")(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 4WD")
2.Remove the front door trim.(Refer to Body - "Front Door Trim")
3.Remove the pressure type side impact sensor (B) by removing the screws after disconnecting the connector (A).
Tightening torque :2.0 - 3.0 N·m (0.20 - 0.31 kgf·m, 1.4 - 2.2 lb·ft, 17.4 - 26.9 lb·in)
Acceleration Type Side Impact Sensor (A-SIS)
[Front]
1.Disconnect the battery negative ( - ) terminal and the service interlock connector.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 2WD")(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 4WD")
2.Remove the center pillar lower trim.(Refer to Body - "Center Pillar Trim")
3.Remove the acceleration type side impact sensor (B) by removing the nut after disconnecting the connector (A).

1.Install in reverse order of removal.
Be sure to keep the torque specifications presented in shop manuals. Otherwise, it could lead to the malfunction of airbag system.
2.After installing the sensor, make sure that the system operates normally.
When the IG is on, the airbag warning lamp should turns off after turning on for 3 - 6 seconds.
