Kia EV6. Power Tailgate Unit   

• When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.

• When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.

• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.

1)If a new PTGM is replaced, scan for DTC's in the system.If DTC B24B000 exists, perform power tailgate mode change.(Refer to Power Tailgate Unit - "Adjustment")

2)If a new power tailgate module (PTGM) is replaced, perform the initialization process.(Refer to Power Tailgate Unit - "Adjustment")

3)Before delivery to customer, operate the power tailgate to be sure that there is no warning sound.

1.Remove the luggage side trim [RH].(Refer to Tailgate Trim - "Luggage Side Trim")

2.Disconnect the power tailgate module connectors (A).

3.Remove the power tailgate module (A) after removing the nuts.

Installation

1.Install in the reverse order of removal.

Adjustment

Power Tailgate Mode Change

1.The new power tailgate module is set to the initial factory mode (Inline), must be set to A/S mode (field).(If the mode change is not perform, DTC B24B000 may occur.)

2.After connecting the KDS, select the 'Power tailgate mode change' and 'Car model', complete the mode change by following the procedures.

When using the power tailgate in factory mode, be careful as an alarm sound is always generated.

System Initialization

System initialization is needed to recognize the closing position of the tailgate to power tailgate module.After the battery power is reset, the initialization process is executed to find the maximum opening / closing position of the tailgate.After system initialization is completed, the general tailgate opening / closing operation can be ensured only by recognizing the closing position and the maximum opening position of the tailgate.Procedure :
