Kia EV6: On Vehicle Inspection

On Vehicle Inspection

Kia EV6. On Vehicle Inspection

• Before replacing the Vehicle Charging Management System (VCMS), check the EVSE, combo charger inlet assembly, quick charge relay and related controller.

• After replacing the VCMS and the related parts, vehicle should be checked that it charges normally.

How to inspect when charging is not working

1.Check Charging Warning Message

(1)Perform the normal charge for approximately 10 minutes by using the Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment (EVSE) that operates normally.

(2)If the charge is not operated, check the charge warning message with IG ON.

Kia EV6. On Vehicle Inspection

The charge warning messages are displayed for 10 seconds in the cluster and 3 seconds in the AVNT.

(3)When cluster message is displayed, check it as follows.

Warning Message Suspected Cause How to inspect
Check the external (normal/fast) charger condition. • EVSE Control Pilot (CP) signal fault
• EVSE Charging Interruption (Self Diagnostic / User Shutdown, etc.)
• Power shut off or breaker operation
• Check for the EVSE abnormality
• Inspect the VCMS when the same warning message is displayed in other EVSE
Check the charge connector connection condition. • Charge cable connector faulty connection • Inspect charge cable (foreign substance, damage)
• Inspect the VCMS (proximity detection signal inspection) when the same warning message is displayed after the replacing the charging cable

2.Vehicle Condition Inspection

(1)Check the conditions for normal charging and inspect them as follows.

Item Operating condition How to inspect
Reservation charging • Reservation charging OFF
• Press the cancel button with the reservation charging set (only available within 3 minutes of the charging cable connection)
• When the charging start time has reached the condition with reservation charging set
• Set the reservation charging OFF in the AVNT, perform vehicle charging
Target charge level setting • When target charge level is more than the current high voltage battery SOC • Set the charge limit in the AVNT to 100%, perform vehicle charging
Gear position • P range • Charging in P range
Auxiliary 12 V Battery • Normal • Charging at normal auxiliary 12 V battery conditions

How to inspect when V2L is not working

1.Check Discharging Warning Message

(1)Connect the V2L gender and perform the V2L function for about 5 minutes.

(2)If the discharge is not operated, check the discharge warning message in IG ON.

Kia EV6. On Vehicle Inspection

The discharge warning messages are displayed for 10 seconds in the cluster and 3 seconds in the AVNT.

(3)When cluster message is displayed, check it as follows.

Warning Message Suspected Cause How to inspect
V2L turns off, as battery discharge limit has been reached. • Discharge power exceeded • Inspect electronic devices
V2L operation conditions not met. • V2L gender switch turned off
• Indoor V2L outlet overheated
• Charge door is opened while using indoor V2L
• Inspect V2L gender (foreign substance, damage)
• Inspect Indoor V2L outlet
• Inspect charge door assembly

2.Vehicle Condition Inspection

(1)Check the V2L operation conditions and inspect them as follows.

Item Operating condition How to inspect
Set the limit of discharging • When discharge limit is lower than the current high voltage battery SOC • Set the discharge limit in the AVNT to 20%, perform vehicle discharging
Auxiliary 12 V Battery • Normal • Perform the auxiliary 12 V battery discharge in normal condition
