Description

• The auxiliary 12 V battery supplies power to electronic components excluding high voltage components.

• The high voltage of a high voltage battery is converted into a low voltage (DC 12 V) through the LDC to charge the auxiliary 12 V battery.

Removal

• When working on high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or electric leakage.

• When working on high voltage system or related components, make sure that you are familiar and comply with the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings." If you do not comply with the instructions, serious accidents due to electric shock or leakage may occur.

• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedures.

Auxiliary 12 V Battery

1.Open the front trunk (A).

2.Open the service cover (A).

3.Disconnect the auxiliary 12 V battery negative ( - ) terminal (A).

Tightening torque :7.8 - 9.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf·m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb·ft)

4.Disconnect the service interlock connector (A).

Wait more than 5 minutes for capacitor of the high voltage battery system to be discharged completely.

The service interlock connector cannot be completely removed.

5.Open the auxiliary 12 V battery positive ( + ) terminal cover (A).

6.Disconnect the auxiliary 12 V battery positive ( + ) terminal (A).

Tightening torque :7.8 - 9.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf·m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb·ft)

7.Remove the auxiliary 12 V battery (A) after removing the clamp (B).

Tightening torque :9.8 - 13.7 N·m (1.0 - 1.4 kgf·m, 7.2 - 10.1 lb·ft)

Auxiliary 12 V Battery Tray

1.Remove the auxiliary 12 V battery.(Refer to Auxiliary 12 V Battery - "Removal and Installation - 2WD")

2.Remove the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU).(Refer to Motor & Reduction Gear System - "Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)")

3.Separate the wiring (A) from the tray.

4.Remove the auxiliary 12 V battery tray (A).

Tightening torque :9.8 - 13.7 N·m (1.0 - 1.4 kgf·m, 7.2 - 10.1 lb·ft)

Installation

• When working on high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or electric leakage.

• When working on high voltage system or related components, make sure that you are familiar and comply with the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings." If you do not comply with the instructions, serious accidents due to electric shock or leakage may occur.

• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedures.

1.Install in the reverse order of removal.

• Install the auxiliary 12 V battery and the tray to the specified torque.

• If the auxiliary 12 V battery is dropped, it may cause internal damage. (Do not reuse)

• When installing the auxiliary 12 V battery, install the clamp correctly.

• When replacing the auxiliary 12 V battery, be sure to replace it with the same specification(capacity, manufacturer, etc.) as the battery installed originally. When the different specification is installed, it may be determined that the battery performance is abnormal by the battery sensor.

Removal

Auxiliary 12 V Battery Tray

1.Remove the auxiliary 12 V battery.(Refer to Auxiliary 12 V Battery - "Removal and Installation-4WD")

2.Remove the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU).(Refer to Motor & Reduction Gear System - "Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)")

3.Separate the wiring (A, B) from the tray.
