5-a. 19.6 - 24.5 N·m (2.0 - 2.5 kgf·m, 14.5 - 18.1 lb·ft)


Removal

1.Remove the rear wheel and tires.(Refer to Tires/Wheels - "Wheel")

2.Remove the rear shock absorber lower bolt (A), washer (B), and nut (C).

Tightening torque :176.5 - 196.1 N·m (18.0 - 20.0 kgf·m, 130.2 - 144.7 lb·ft)

If using a transmission jack to support a reduction gear, do not lift the vehicle too much. The center gravity of the vehicle may change and fall.

• Install the transmission jack and lift up the parts to prevent the bolts and nuts from damage when installing or removing.

• Mark and remove all bolts and nuts to prevent incorrectly positioned installation.

3.Remove the rear shock absorber (A) after removing the bolts.

Tightening torque :49.0 - 63.7 N·m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf·m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb·ft)

Hold the bolt and remove or install the nut.

Installation

1.Install in the reverse order of removal.

Used for removal or installing of rear shock absorber lock nut.

Disassembly

1.Remove the rear shock absorber.(Refer to Rear Suspension System - "Rear Shock Absorber")

2.Remove the insulator cap (A).

3.Remove the rear shock absorber lock nut using the SST(09546 - 3X100).

Tightening torque :16.7 - 24.5 N·m (2.0 - 2.5 kgf·m, 14.5 - 18.0 lb·ft)

4.Disassemble the insulator (A), bumper rubber (B), dust cover (C).

Inspection

1.Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration.

2.Check all bolts and nuts.

3.Repeat compression and tension of the rear shock absorber rod (A) to check for abnormal resistance or noise between operations.

Disposal

1.Fully extend the rear shock absorber rod.

2.Drill a hole in the (A) area of the cylinder to deflate gas.

The gas coming out is harmless, but be careful of debris that may fly when drilling.

Wear protective glasses to prevent injury from drill chips when drilling.

Reassembly

1.Reassemble the insulator (A), bumper rubber (B), dust cover (C) to the shock absorber.

2.Install the rear shock absorber lock nut using the SST(09546 - 3X100).

Tightening torque :16.7 - 24.5 N·m (2.0 - 2.5 kgf·m, 14.5 - 18.0 lb·ft)

Do not reuse the lock nut.

3.Install the insulator cap (A).

4.Install the rear shock absorber.(Refer to Rear Suspension System - "Rear Shock Absorber")
