Description
• The Curtain Airbag (CAB) module is built-in on the left and right side of the roof trim, and protects the occupants in the event of a side collision or rollover accident.
• In the event of a side collision, the F-SIS and P-SIS, which are installed in the center of the left and right center pillars and front door modules, detect the collision. The SRS Control Module (SRSCM) determines whether the curtain airbag (CAB) is deployed.
Direct resistance measurement of the airbag module is very dangerous as it can cause the airbag deployment.
Troubleshooting
Removal
• When working on the high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. A lack of understanding of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on the high voltage system or related components, be sure to observe and be aware of the "Safety Precautions, Cautions and Warnings". If not, it may cause serious accidents due to electric shock or short circuit.
• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedure.
1.Disconnect the battery negative ( - ) terminal and the service interlock connector.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 2WD")(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12 V Battery - 4WD")
2.Remove the roof trim assembly.(Refer to Body - "Roof Trim Assembly")
3.Disconnect the Curtain Airbag (CAB) module connector (A).

1.Install in reverse order of removal.
• Be sure to keep the torque specifications presented in shop manuals. Otherwise, it could lead to the malfunction of airbag system.
• The Curtain Airbag (CAB) module is identified by the color of the text and lines on the module as follows.
– Left side : Yellow label
– Right side : Orange label
2.After installing the airbag module, check if the airbag system operates normally.
If IG is ON, the SRS indicator light should turn off after turning on for about 6 seconds.
