Used for anchoring the motor and reducer gear when removing and installing the motor and reducer gear

Removal

• When working on high voltage system, the work should be performed by technicians who have completed the relevant training. It is because that lack of knowledge of the high voltage system can lead to serious accidents due to electric shock or electric leakage.

• When working a high voltage system, the technician must be recognized and observe "General Safety Information and Caution". If do not follow, serious accidents like electric shock and short circuit are caused.

• When working on high voltage system, make sure to check the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and high voltage shut-off procedures.

• Use a fender cover to protect the painted surface.

• Be careful not to damage the connector when disconnecting.

• When disconnecting a quick connector, refer to the following according to the type of quick connector.[Type A]- Remove the while pressing the quick connector clamp (A) in the direction of the arrow.- Do not touch the rubber seal (B) inside the hose.

[Type B]- Pull the quick connector clamp (A) in the direction of the arrow to separate the clamp and remove the hose.- Do not touch the rubber seal (B) inside the hose.

Mark all wiring and hoses to prevent incorrect connections.

1.Shut off the high voltage circuit.(Refer to Motor and Reduction Gear System - "High Voltage Shut-off Procedures")

2.Remove the auxiliary 12 V battery and tray.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Auxiliary 12V Battery")

3.Remove the front trunk.(Refer to Body - "Front Trunk")

4.Remove the front under cover and the front rear under cover.(Refer to Front Motor and Reduction Gear System - "Front Under Cover")

5.Drain the coolant.(Refer to Electric Vehicle Cooling System - "Coolant")

6.Drain the front motor and reduction gear oil.(Refer to Front Motor and Reduction Gear System - "Front Motor and Reduction Gear Oil")

7.Recover the air conditioner.(Refer to Heating,Ventilation And Air Conditioning - "Refrigerant Recovery/Recycling/Charging/Evacuation")

8.Disconnect the high voltage cable (A) and the wiring fixing clip (B).

9.Disconnect the front wiring connector.

(1)Remove the junction block cover (A).

(2)Disconnect the front wiring connector (A) and the wiring fixing clip (B).

(3)Remove the front wiring protector (A) from the junction block.

10.Remove the motor ground bolt (A).

Tightening torque :6.9 - 9.8 N·m (0.7 - 1.0 kgf·m, 5.1 - 7.2 lb·ft)

11.Disconnect the 3-way valve coolant hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

12.Disconnect the motor & reduction oil cooler coolant hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

13.Disconnect the inverter coolant hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

14.Disconnect the battery heater hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

15.Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector (A).

16.Disconnect the coolant hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

17.Remove the A/C pipe.

(1)Disconnect the A/C pressure transducer connector.

(2)Remove the A/C pipe (B) after removing the mounting nut.

Tightening torque :8.8 - 13.7 N·m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf·m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb·ft)

(3)Remove the A/C pipe (A) after removing the mounting nut.

Tightening torque :8.8 - 13.7 N·m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf·m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb·ft)

(4)Disconnect the A/C pipe (A) from the fixing bracket.

18.Separate the steering universal joint from the steering gear box.

(1)Remove the steering universal joint bolt (A).

Tightening torque :49.0 - 58.8 N·m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf·m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb·ft)

Do not reuse steering universal joint bolt.

(2)Separate the steering universal joint (A) in the direction of the arrow.

19.Disconnect the water condenser (A) after releasing the quick connector.

20.Disconnect the high voltage battery coolant temperature sensor connector (A).

21.Disconnect the high voltage battery cooling hose (A) after releasing the quick connector.

22.Remove the high voltage battery cover (A) after removing the mounting bolts.

Tightening torque :7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

23.Disconnect the front high voltage junction box power cable (A).

How to disconnect the connector

1)Release the locking clip (A) by pulling it.

2)Disconnect the connector by pushing the lever (A) in the direction of the arrow while pressing the locking clip (B).

24.Disconnect the R-MDPS connector (A) and wiring fixing clip (B).

25.Remove the electric water pump (EWP).(Refer to Cooling System - "Electric Water Pump (EWP)")

26.Remove the front driveshaft.(Refer to Driveshaft Assembly - "Front Driveshaft")

27.Remove the stabilizer bar link (A) from the front strut assembly after removing the mounting nut.

Tightening torque :98.1 - 117.7 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb·ft)

• Hold the outer hex (A) when removing or installing the nut (B).

• Be careful not to damage the boot of the link.

• Always use hand tools when removing and installing the stabilizer bar link nut.

28.Support the front sub frame using a table lift.

29.Remove the front sub frame bolts and nut (A).

Tightening torque :107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

30.Lift up the vehicle slowly to remove the front motor and reduction gear assembly and front sub frame.

• Before removing the motor and reducer assembly, make sure hoses and wire connectors are disconnected.

• When removing the motor and reducer assembly, be careful not to damage any surrounding parts or body components.

31.Remove the protectors and wiring cables around the motor and reduction gear assembly.

32.Remove the motor & reduction gear oil cooler.(Refer to Cooling System - "Motor & Reduction Gear Oil Cooler")

33.Remove the 3 way valve.(Refer to Cooling System - "3Way Valve")

34.Remove the coolant distribution pipe.(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant Distribution Pipe")

35.Remove the electric oil pump.(Refer to Motor and Reduction Gear System - "Electronic Oil Pump (EOP)")

36.Remove the battery heater.(Refer to Cooling System - "Battery Heater")

37.Remove the front high voltage junction box.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Front High Voltage Junction Box")

38.Remove the inverter assembly.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Inverter Assembly - 4WD")

39.Remove the electric A/C compressor.(Refer to Heating,Ventilation And Air Conditioning - "Electric A/C Compressor")

40.Support the motor and reduction gear assembly using engine cranes and SST (09200 - 4X000).

Install the SST (09200 - 4X000) to the front motor and reduction gear assembly hanger.

41.Remove the motor mounting bracket bolts and nuts (A).

Tightening torque :107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

42.Remove the front motor and reduction gear assembly from the front sub frame by lifting the engine crane upward.

43.Remove the motor and reduction gear mounting bracket (A) after removing the mounting bolts.

Tightening torque :63.7 - 83.4 N·m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf·m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb·ft)

Installation

1.Install in the reverse order of removal.

Make sure the quick connector installed securely after installing coolant hose.[Type A]- Make sure the quick connector (A) installed securely.

[Type B]- Make sure the quick connector and quick connector clamp are installed securely.- Make sure that the quick connector protrusion (A) fit into the groove (B).

2.Fill with coolant.(Refer to Electric Vehicle Cooling System - "Coolant")

Using the KDS, perform Electric Water Pump (EWP) air bleeding.

3.Refill the front motor and reduction gear oil.(Refer to Front Motor and Reduction Gear System - "Front Motor and Reduction Gear Oil")

4.After installing the front motor and reduction gear assembly, perform the leakage test. (Refer to Battery Control System - "Air Tightness")

5.Perform the "Motor Control Unit-Front" and "Initialization of Automatic Resolver Offset Calibration" using the KDS.(Refer to Motor and Reduction Gear System - Motor Position & Temperature Sensor)

If the resolver offset correction initialization is not performed, the output may be reduced and the drivable distance may be shortened.

Inspection

[Phase Resistance]

1.Remove the front high voltage junction box.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Front High Voltage Junction Box")

2.Remove the inverter assembly.(Refer to Battery Control System - "Inverter Assembly - 4WD")

3.Check the resistance of each line (U, V, W) using a multi-ohm meter.

[Insulation Resistance]

3.Using an insulation resistance tester check insulation resistance.

(1)Connect the ( - ) terminal of insulation resistance tester to housing.

(2)Connect the ( + ) terminal of the insulation resistance tester to the 3-phase (U, V, W).

(3)Supply DC 1,000 V power for about 1 minute and check the measured value.

[Dielectric Strength]

3.Using a withstanding voltage tester check leakage current.

(1)Connect the ( - ) terminal of withstand voltage tester to housing.

(2)Connect the ( + ) terminal of withstand voltage tester to 3-phase (U, V, W).

(3)Check the measured value by applying AC 2,200 V for one minute.
